Scope note
Species of medium sized tree native to Bangladesh, China, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam; found as an exotic in Burundi, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe. The leaves are fodder for cattle; monkeys eat the pods. Timber is used for furniture and construction. Fallen branches are used as fuel. The gum is used as an extender for other gums.
